Contenuto del corso
The course is divided in two parts. In the first, the course introduces the student to the main conceptual and empirical developments that digitalisation has brought to international politics. It will address issues such as state sovereignty, non-state actors and multi-level governance in the digital age. In the second part, the course focuses more specifically on cybersecurity, its challenges and its power dynamics. In both parts of the course, reference will be made to IR theories.

Obiettivi Formativi
The general aim of the course is to provide students with a critical understanding of current developments in international relations due to increasing pervasiveness of digital technologies, especially in the field of cybersecurity. By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- understand the main changes that digital technologies are impressing to international relations, especially in the field of cybersecurity
- master the main concepts to analyse cybersecurity and international relations in the digital age
- present and discuss relevant matters both in writing and orally
Prerequisiti
Basic knowledge of International Relations.
Metodi Didattici
Classes will incorporate both lectures and seminar-like discussions, so it is crucial that attending students keep up with the readings and be prepared to discuss them in class. Participation in class discussions is strongly encouraged and will be awarded extra points.

Modalità di verifica apprendimento
Attending students will be assessed on the basis of participation (up to 2 points), a short essay (up to 3 points) and a written examination (up to 27 points). The highest grade is 32 = 30 cum laude.
Non-attending students (attending less than 75% of the classes) will be assessed on the basis of: an essay (30%) and a final written examination (70%). Submission of the essay is due one week before the exam and it is a prerequisite to be able to take the written exam.
