The role of journalism in the construction of the public sphere.
We will observe the logic of the journalistic production , with a focus on continuous interaction with the social context in which they occur .
Journalism will be studied in its interactions with the economic, political , technological and socio - cultural systems.
To provide students the knowledge needed to understand how journalism, as a process of negotiation involving different social actors, builds social reality and helps to define the interpretive frameworks through which public opinion is formed .
Students will be given the tools to analyze journalistic texts and to produce journalistic texts; in this regard - through exercises and testimonials - it will be reflected on the differences between the different media and the various genres and formats .

It will develop through three distinct pathways : lessons ; analysis of journalistic products; exercises
Type of Assessment
The exam will be oral. Students will be asked to show that they understand the reasons why journalism is one of the most important institutions in the public sphere; not only through a clear exposition of the topics covered in the suggested books, but also through their specific examples, which know how to connect theoretical reflections with the everyday life on which journalism is nourished.
Course program
The processes of formation of public opinion will be analyzed. Through the concept of negotiation the social actors that determine the journalistic construction of reality will be observed: the sources, the public and the information system. The main models of journalism will be presented and journalistic logic discussed.
An important role of the course will be reserved to the analysis of the transformations resulting from the advent of digital.
